"Dahlia" 2010

If you do traditional quilts, as I do, it's very nice to have a Dahlia, and a Lone Star, too, in your collection. I particularly like how this turned out. Carolyn Archer did a beautiful custom job with the machine-quilting. Each color of petals has a distinctive quilting pattern (see close-up photos below). The third photo (salmon color) shows the back of the dahlia figure, where the stitching patterns can be seen more clearly. (For the central motif and surrounding stipple area, Carolyn guided the needle by hand, whereas the bottom photo shows a computer-guided design.)
