"Flower Basket" 2017

I am thrilled that this quilt won a third-place ribbon in the "WALL QUILTS: Movable Machine Quilted" category at the Spring Paducah Quilt Show, 2018! I began this quilt in September of 2016 at the Holly Girls retreat in Elk Rapids, MI. That was my third year to attend the retreat, which is led by sisters Sue Nickels and Pat Holly. The quilt design was created by Sue Nickels. I used hand-dyed fabrics from Liberty Homestead of Kingsville, MO. The applique was done by machine with fusible web, with blanket stitches around each applique piece. The quilting was done by Patricia Hechler of Franklin, OH on her longarm machine. This was the first time that I made a double-scallop edge treatment, which I will never again attempt until pigs fly! The quilt was finished in November of 2017.
