"Rose of Sharon II" 2017

This is the second Rose of Sharon quilt that I've made, and I'm excited that it has been accepted into the 2018 Spring Paducah Quilt Show! The blocks are some of the winning designs from the online EQ6 Challenge in 2009. The applique was done by machine with fusible web, and blanket stitches around each piece. Most of the applique fabrics are hand woven and hand dyed cotton shot fabrics, in which the warp and weft threads are of two different colors. I did the free-motion quilting, and added a red piping next to the binding. I like to use a solid color for the backing, so that the quilting can easily be seen. The quilt top was made in 2014-15, and was quilted 2017.
