Heirloom Quilt #5

This pieced quilt with curves was a very special gift to me from Mary Rea. Mary, who lived on a nearby farm, was one of Mom and Dad's best friends, and is one of mine, too. She's actually a very distant relative, also. The quilt was made by Emily Hite Jones Campbell, who was a sister of my grandfather Levi Hite. After Emily's first husband died, she married Ed Campbell and became Mary Rea's stepmother. Emily, who died in 1939, made the quilt for Mary and, a few years ago, Mary gave it to me. As you will notice in the bottom photo, pieces are joined along a curved seam, which is difficult to do. Unfortunately, this quilt has become quite faded over its long lifetime.
